Glam Closets

{photo via elle decor nanette lepore's closet}

I am dreaming of having a glam closet. I want to walk into my closet and feel like I am shopping in a boutique. I want all shoes and handbags on display. I also want a big ottoman or island in the center with a chandelier hanging above of course. Is this asking too much..maybe? I think the closet I am most inspired by is the photo above of fashion designer Nanette Lepore's. This is a space where you could hang out with your girlfriends for hours playing dress up. Imagine the amazing garments Nanette has hanging in there. I even want the adorable dog in this photo. Which closet inspires you most? Oh I can't wait for the day when I go shopping in my closet boutique. ~xo~ Annie

The Basket Effect

{photo via style-files.com}

I love the dramatic impact these pastel baskets have on a crisp white wall. The rag rugs are a perfect pairing with the basket. What an easy way to spruce up a hallway or dining space for Spring. ~xo~ Annie

Dress Up Dolls for Your Wall

Oh I just giggled like a little girl when I saw these dress up doll wall decals. I wished I had these when I was miniature. It would have kept me busy for hours, it still could keep me busy for hours. Who says you have to be a little girl to play dress up?! The decals are even made of fabric so you get the real cloth effect. What will they come up with next?! What a great way to teach your child to accessorize at an early age. Check them out at the lovemaestore at etsy.com. ~xo~ Annie

Outside the Box Outdoors

Outdoor furniture has come a long way from your Mommas teak chairs. Don't get me wrong I love the charm of weathered teak furniture. I just dream of someday having outdoor furniture that is on another level. It would be so fun to crawl into a Dedon Nestrest or doze off in Hastens plaid hammock. I can see myself daydreaming away with a good book and cold lemonade. I think there is also something to be said about being able to relax more if your sitting on 100% recycled furniture such as Loll's. You can relax knowing you have done your part for mother earth. I have decided in my next home I will be finding a spot for at least a Nestrest to dwell inside. What could be a cozier way to spend an afternoon than in your own outdoor nest!? It's the big kid version of a homemade fort. ~xo~ Annie

Garden Stool Party

I can't get enough of garden stools. They add that eclectic touch or pop of needed color in a room. They can make a great side table or small entry table to toss your keys on. You can pair two together in front of your sofa in place of a regular old coffee table. With so many colors and styles garden stools fit into any home decor. The best part is they are an affordable accessory to update your space. So have fun bringing the garden party inside with one of these choices. ~xo~ Annie

Fun Food Storage

I am still in full Spring cleaning mode at my house. Every weekend I find a cabinet, closet or drawer to clean out. I get such a thrill from purging of stuff and unloading donations at Salvation Army. Organizing addiction has become a real problem for me I may need intervention. Sometimes I just stand and stare at the closet that is freshly organized until my husband asks me what I'm doing. That is why I flipped when I saw the food storage and kitchen section at seltzerstudios.com. I would love to open my fridge to brightly colored food storage containers. What a way to liven up reheating leftovers. I also love the idea of carrying some wine to a BBQ in a multi dot tote. Amazing how the right container in brightly colored patterns can make a girl so happy. ~xo~ Annie

Giant Design Inspiration

The Dallas Film Festival is going on right now and it's a blast. It is so fun to have such a wide variety of films to go see. Last night I had a girls night with my fun sister-in-law. We went to a special screening of the old classic movie Giant. It stars the greats like Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson and James Dean. It is an essential Texas movie, so it was fitting to watch it at the historic Texas Theater (where they captured Oswald..spooky). They have maintained a lot of the theaters original character and charm. It was fun to watch the movie just as they would have in 1956 when Giant arrived in theaters. It is a lovely film and it inspired me to put together a design round up. If you feel like it's a movie weekend I recommend renting it and enjoying some Texas iced tea and BBQ. Have a great weekend all! ~xo~ Annie

Back Yard BBQ

I just finished getting my taxes organized and it is a beautiful day. This weather puts me in the mood for a backyard BBQ. I have the windows open and I can smell the neighbors grills going. I think I just may have to join them in the fun.

I would love to pull together a fun BBQ bash with these stylin items. Get out and enjoy the day everyone! ~xo! Annie

Super Chintz!

Something about Spring has me thinking of chintz. I think chintz gets a bad wrap often, because it has been overdosed. I am not talking about Grandmas sea foam green and peach chintz sofa, so don't get me wrong. There are a lot of new patterns out there to update that flea market ottoman or chair you just found. I am especially in love with Isaac Mizrahi's super chintz for S. Harris (check it out below). Hopefully this has you thinking of chintz in a non tacky light. ~xo~ Annie

San Fran Bay Area Design!

Last week I was in New York City for an eclectic living room design. This week I traveled to the lovely town of Redwood City near the San Fran Bay area. Well not really traveled, but via the internet I did. The design mission was to create a master bedroom that was traditional in style with modern and flea market twists. I selected Dwell Studio peacock bedding for a modern play on a traditional pattern. I went with a classic nail head upholstered bed, because it will be timeless. The dresser and nightstands are traditional yet clean lined and slightly modern in style. The wood finishes have a gray rustic wash giving them a flea market feel. Adding to the flea market touches is the blue garden stool, Moroccan pouf and dictionary art work. Oh how the MyDiab clients have great taste making my job once again too much fun. Have a great weekend everyone! ~xo~ Annie
