Rooms That Rock

I have always been a fan of rock photography. I love finding images and having them enlarged to make a statement in a room. Everyone has their favorite artist they love and always will. Why not hang them in your favorite space. This does not mean you should pin rock posters up all over your house. Take inspiration from the designs below and have Bob Dylan setting the stage in your reading nook or Tupac adding drama to your loft. Here is how to rock out your room. Xo ~ Annie

I am a huge Dylan fan so this one has to be my favorite. I desperately need to make room on a wall to copy this idea.

Steal these ideas from the coolest design family The Novagratz's. They added sex appeal to this room with Madonna and created drama with a large wall covering of Tupac.

This Beatles pillow fight adds not only art, but a playful sense of humor to the room.

Pop art like the images above always make for a great statement piece while adding color. Look for large repoductions of artists like Andy Warhol or Roy Lichtenstein.

Pretty Lil Pumpkins

My favorite part of Halloween is seeing all the pretty lil pumpkins everywhere. People get so creative with their pumpkin designs and are carving them less less these days. Instead they are breaking out the paint brushes and creating lovely patterns of chevron, gold, suzani and polka dot. Below are some design ideas that are non spoiling and non pumpkin. They are DIY pumpkins made of dryer vents and decoupage. I like the idea of being able to use something again and again year after year. Here are some of my favorite pumpkin designs to inspire you to put away the carving tools. Make something pretty with less mess and see the DIY's below. Happy pumpkin decorating everyone! Xo ~ Annie

Marigold Madness

It seems marigold is blooming in a big way this fall season. I am so glad because it is such a happy shade, yet very specific. It is the perfect combination of yellow and orange. I guess you could say it is yellow + orange = marigold. Add a little marigold into your fall style this weekend you will be happy you did. Have a great weekend all! Xo ~ Annie

Teepees, S'mores and Outdoor Flicks

The weather has finally cooled to a perfect 60ish degrees and I am loving it. It is the perfect weather for a backyard camp out. I think no matter what age you are camping in a teepee is always fun. The same goes with s'mores and an outdoor movie. Here are some inspiring photos to transform your backyard into a cozy camp site. Enjoy! Xo ~ Annie

Fall Wood Grains and Pies

I love to visit Pinterest.com and just see what lovely images will pop up. These two photos just seem to capture the essence of fall. The neutral tones of this room paired with the warmth of the wood beams just say cozy and calm. The only thing that would make it even cozier is to devour one of these mini apple pies while lounging in the bed. Xo ~ Annie

Multi Stripe Floors

I am always drawn to a multi stripe. Whether it is on a chair, blouse, rug or just a napkin. I never thought how incredible it would look painted on a wood floor. What a great way to liven up a very basic dining room. It would be fun to pull this look off in time for the holiday family gatherings. I wish I had the space to try this one myself. Happy weekend all! Xo ~ Annie

Red Carpet Interiors

Have your ever wondered what the inside of a fashion designers home looks like. Fashion and interior design go hand and hand. It is no wonder these designers can take their looks from red carpet to home carpet. Here are some of my favorite fashion designer interiors from the article Houses of Style via Elle Decor . Happy Decorating! xo ~ Annie

What fashion designer would you most like to see how they live? I think Jean Paul Gaultier would be fun and outside of the box.

Glamorous Laundry Rooms

I have been dreaming of a glamorous Laundry Room. I think it is because my loads of laundry have grown insanely since having a baby. I had no idea a little person could accumulate so much laundry. It is funny that when you become a mom your dream of having a pretty closet shifts to having a pretty place to wash clothes. Of course I wouldn't mind having both. Here is a round up of my favorite glamorous and well organized laundry rooms. After looking at these photos you will find it is very achievable to dress up a laundry room. Here are some ways to make doing the laundry a little more glam. Happy Decorating! xo ~ Annie

Consider painting the floors in a checker board pattern if your laundry area is in the basement and has concrete floors.

Dress things up by putting up wallpaper and hanging a lantern or chandi.

Give a clean, crisp fresh feeling to the space by keeping everything white.

Adding a skirt to a utility sink will bring in a pop of color while hiding clutter.

Give yourself the energy to finish folding by adding lots of color to the space.

Make the most of a small area by purchasing small appliances and creating a multi use space.

What do you want to do to your laundry room?

Fearless Chevron Floors

I am so happy to see the chevron trend is here to stay. In fact as the trend grows people are becoming more fearless with it. Forget adding just an accent pillow or pair of drapery panels, be bold and chevron the floor. Fashion legends like the Missoni Family have set the stage in chevron and made it a closet staple. It is Jonathan Adler and Kelly Wearstler that have made it a bold statement in interiors. Madeline Weinrib has also blessed us with her beautiful chevron textiles that make me so happy. With chevron popping up everywhere I think it's safe to say it has become a classic. Go for it and zig zag that powder bath, kitchen or office....just make sure you tape the pattern first and don't try and freestyle this one. Happy Decorating! xo ~ Annie
