Dining Room to Ping Pong Room!

Photo from Apartment Therapy

Ping pong is blowing up right now. Who wouldn't like it after seeing these lovely ping pong tables. People are even throwing ping pong cocktail parties...I wish I was invited. I never thought I would say this, but I am thinking about getting rid of the dining room table and putting a ping pong table in it's place. We never eat at the dining table anyway...so may as well put that space to use. Ping pong is not just for Forest Gump anymore. Susan Sarandon and friends have opened a small string of bars called Spin devoted to ping pong. I hope we get a Spin in Dallas eventually, especially since Todd Oldham designs the Spin interiors. Decorator in a Box is officially a ping pong fan!

Little Miss Muffet needs a Moroccan pouf!

There is nothing wrong with Little Miss Muffets tuffet, but she would be much more chic with a Moroccan pouf instead. The pouf is popping up everywhere in style savvy designs. It brings that always needed pop of color to a space. It also brings in that eclectic accent that every room should have. You can spend a pretty penny on an authentic Moroccan pouf or search Ebay for more reasonable versions. Happy pouf shopping!

Letter Love

I love letters! You can hang them almost anywhere to create a fun and interesting atmosphere. It can be in a breakfast nook, office or a child's bedroom you really can’t go wrong. I love hunting on etsy.com for old industrial sign or fabric letters. For kids thelandofnod.com has a great selection of floral and plaid wallpaper letters. Anthropologie.com has bold fabric print wall letters and even metal hooks. In the kitchen spell "EAT" or "DRINK" to create a festive feel. In your office spell "CREATE" or "GET TO WORK" if you have a hard time staying on task. In a child's room spell "IMAGINE" or "ADVENTURE" to encourage creativity and fun. Below are a few Decorator in a Box favorites.

Looks like a trip to Anthropologie is in my future to dig through hardware bins. Thank you once again design sponge for the creative idea. Mad Men Style

The new season of Mad Men has begun! This means me sitting on the sofa analyzing the interior in each scene. Sometimes I am so distracted by the chair Donald Draper is lounging on that I miss the story completely. There is no question this era was not always politically correct, but they had unbelievable style. Bring a little Mad Men into your home with a few Mid-Century Mod pieces. You will be sipping martinis on your chintz sofa before you know it.

Decorator in a Box can help you create this look in a finacially savvy way and online at www.mydiab.com .

Bring a little Charles and Ray Eames into your space. You can find original antiques like the chairs shown below at 1stdibs.com. You may also find replicas from other dealers at a more affordable price.

The Tulip Table and Platner Table definitely represent this style and are a sure thing. You can find these at DWR.com or search 1stdibs and Craigslist for deals.

Room and Board is a great resource for Mid Centery Modern furniture like this sofa shown below and more.

Add a fun lamp like the ones below at 1stdibs.com. Don't forget to check out local flea markets and garage sales for great finds.

Add some abstract or pop art by popular artists of the time and give your space a punch. You can find posters by Roy Lichtenstein, Jackson Pollock, and Mark Rothko at allposters.com. They priced affordably and you can even have them framed.
